Senior Database Administrator, Elastic Search Engineer

Summary

Join Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) as a Senior Elastic Search Engineer and provide timely, high-quality database services for internal and external customers. Manage resilient corporate and cloud database infrastructure used by GHX DaaS/SaaS solutions. Collaborate with various teams to plan, design, implement, and support core database functionality, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability. Administer and manage GHX's Elasticsearch implementation, including maintaining clusters, evaluating performance, monitoring capacity, and troubleshooting issues. Develop and engineer GHX data stores, design databases, and manage ETL processes. Provide 24/7 monitoring and on-call support, implementing automated processes and developing database engineering standards. The role requires strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Requirements

• 5-8 years’ experience in Elasticsearch Cluster Administration
• In depth knowledge of Elasticsearch
• Experience with Elastic cloud and migration to Elastic cloud
• Experience with cloud hosted databases , AWS preferred
• Part of a support organization involved in implementation projects
• Proven ability to manage databases in a high transaction/high availability environment
• Experience working with project managers/scrum master’s to implement new projects and resolve issues
• Liaising directly with customers of an IT organization
• Exposure to ITIL / ITSM / Managed Services / DevOps / SOA operational models
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in CS or related discipline or equivalent experience
• Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Interpersonal skills with a strong orientation towards customer service
• Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated commitment to production of high-quality documentation
• Excellent team player with good experience working with departmental and cross functional teams

Responsibilities

• Maintain Elasticsearch clusters in a cloud based environment across multiple availability zones
• Evaluate existing Elasticsearch clusters , indexes and configurations for optimal performance
• Monitoring and alerting of capacity and performance
• Troubleshoot cluster issues including sharding , automation , node failures etc
• Security and data access management
• DR and BCP Fail over management
• Database design/modeling and master data management
• Object creation (dml, ddl and dcl)
• Performance tuning
• Logical to physical data model implementation
• ETL process design and management
• Release Management/Continuous Integration
• Reporting and metrics development, analysis and presentation
• Safeguard the company's data, tools and information systems by adhering to Operational and Security policies and procedures throughout lifecycle of service delivery
• 24/7 monitoring, on-call support and troubleshooting database issues, provide operational feedback to development and release teams
• Implement and maintain automated processes using standardized shell scripting tools
• Develop database engineering standards and practices for the secure operation of databases between our cloud environment, customer environments and third-party IaaS vendors/providers
• May manage relationships with hardware vendors and ISPs
• May coordinate the activities of other database engineers
• May represent database services team for technical issues during cross functional meetings/stand-ups
• Ability to contribute different thoughts, ideas and viewpoints that lead to greater innovation on projects and cross-functional collaborative efforts

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of MongoDB Administration
• Experience with MongoDB Administration
• Familiarity with Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tools
• Knowledge of higher-level languages (Java, C++, Python)
