Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Physical Geography, or a related field
- Proven innovation experience in remote sensing of ecological systems
- Machine Learning experience with models trained on SAR and optical satellite data. Some expertise in ML pipelines, including creating models, cleaning data, A/B testing, the ability to test a model to see if it works, understanding explainable AI and some theoretical understanding of the basis of the models
- Expertise in optical and SAR, image processing, pattern recognition, image classification and feature extraction, application of statistical methods for spatial analysis
- Strong proficiency in remote sensing software (e.g., ENVI, ArcGIS) and programming languages including Python for image processing and analysis and proficiency in R programming
- Expertise in developing and implementing algorithms for change detection
Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning models related to wildfire and forest fires based on Earth Observation data
- Utilize advanced remote sensing techniques to process and analyze multispectral time-series of optical data and synthetic aperture radar data for comprehensive monitoring
- Develop and implement cutting edge algorithms for feature extraction, classification, and change detection, extracting meaningful insights from Earth observation data
- Lead the seamless integration of optical and SAR data to provide a holistic understanding of forest structure, health, and dynamics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute research projects aimed at addressing environmental challenges
- Stay at the forefront of the latest developments in Earth observation technologies, actively contributing to the continuous improvement of our methodologies
