Senior Engineer

Summary

Join DEPT® as a Senior C++ Engineer to support a premiere finance client. This 6-9 month contract role focuses on developing Excel add-ins using .NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (or TypeScript), and the Office JavaScript API. You will be a true problem solver, building user interfaces within Excel, integrating with Excel functionality, and connecting the add-in to external APIs. Proficiency in frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js is required, along with experience in performance optimization. The hourly rate is $67-$80, and the position offers a flexible work environment.

Requirements

• An ability to navigate through the org and solve the local issues is of higher importance
• Demonstrate familiarity with the Office Add-ins platform, its architecture (manifest file and web application components), and deployment methods
• Show proficiency in frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js
• Be proficient in .NET
• Be proficient in Office JavaScript API
• Be proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (or TypeScript)
• Be proficient in Node.js, Office Add-ins Development Kit, Visual Studio Code, Yeoman

Responsibilities

• Dive into existing documentation and get hands-on with setting up locally and working with the excel add-in
• Design and develop task panes, custom ribbon buttons, menus, and other UI elements within Excel
• Use the Office JavaScript API to read and write data, interact with Excel objects (like charts and tables), and extend its capabilities
• Connect the add-in to external data sources or APIs to retrieve or send information
• Ensure the add-in loads quickly and user interactions are responsive

Preferred Qualifications

Having direct excel add-in experience is nice to have but it is not a requirement
