Requirements
- 8-10+ years of experience in software engineering
- Expertise in designing and managing large-scale production systems, particularly in cloud-based architectures (GCP preferred)
- Functional knowledge of derivatives markets, including options and perpetual futures
- Proficiency in building 0β1 systems and scaling them
- Exceptional coding and debugging skills, deep understanding of cloud architectures and algorithms
- Design, build, and maintain a large-scale production system on the cloud, ensuring smooth ops and HA
- Consistently manage engineering assets meticulously, starting from gathering requirements and designing to debugging and testing, and finally, release management and operational monitoring
- Proven ability to manage and lead diverse engineering teams, driving motivation and timely delivery
- Track record of mentoring engineers and fostering career growth within a team
- Enthusiastic about emerging tech, modern practices in software engineering, and Web3 development
- Commitment to shaping and evolving the tech stack for cutting-edge innovation
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design and execution of systems supporting the lifecycle of derivatives trading, including order input, clearing, execution, matching, margin calculations, liquidations, settlement, etc
- Lead the architecture and development of institutional-grade derivatives infrastructure, ensuring robustness, scalability, and efficiency
- Thought Leadership in financial engineering and backend solutions architecture, driving innovation and best practices
- Writing high-quality and well-tested code as well as reviewing code from other team members
- Inspire and motivate cross-functional teams, balancing high technical standards with pragmatic delivery timelines
- Remove friction points and optimize workflows to foster productivity and innovation
- Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers, nurturing a collaborative and high-performing culture
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineers to turn high-level requirements into actionable roadmaps
- Ensure backend services seamlessly integrate with frontend applications for real-time user experiences
- Champion cross-pod technical initiatives that impact the entire engineering organization
- Drive end-to-end software lifecycle management, from requirements, specifications, and system design to deployment and monitoring
- Ensure the continuous availability and reliability of the exchange by participating in the on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Technical Lead or Engineering Manager
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based financial exchanges
- Educational background in Computer Science or related fields
- Experience with Typescript, Python, EVM, Distributed Systems, or Cryptography
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience working in decentralized finance (DeFi) or other Web3 technologies
