Senior Fullstack Software Engineer

Summary

Join our growing Technology team as a Senior Software Engineering Contractor based in Argentina or Mexico! You will be a key contributor, crafting high-quality software and automated tests. You'll independently own feature delivery and provide valuable input on scoping and design. Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Product Design teams. This role involves working with our Content Management Systems, vital to Newsela's platform. Success requires 5+ years of full-stack experience in a SaaS environment and proficiency in Python, SQL, and Javascript. Note that this contract role does not include company-sponsored benefits.

Requirements

• Have 5+ years of full-stack experience in software development and have demonstrated success working in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) environment
• Be able to leverage your intermediate experience in Python to effectively build and deploy highly performant REST APIs
• Have a firm understanding of relational databases and experience in SQL creating and modifying data models, as well as writing and optimizing queries with scalability and performance in mind
• Have some experience in Javascript
• Be excited to work in a collaborative and inclusive environment that supports continued improvement through code reviews and feedback

• Demonstrate technical expertise and involvement in scoping and preparing for delivery via groomed user stories
• Execute individual contributor tasks (architectural patterns and adherence, high-quality code and tests written, PR review cycle, QA findings, completing sprint commitments, identifying missing requirements, adherence to accessibility standards, and non-bias terminology in code
