Summary
Join Muon Space as a talented GNC Systems Engineer and contribute to the development and management of GNC system requirements for our spacecraft. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining pointing/agility budgets, ensuring proper system-level integration, and analyzing on-orbit performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is crucial for successful mission execution. This role requires a deep understanding of GNC systems analysis and design, along with a systems mindset. Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in spacecraft GNC systems
- Experience with attitude determination sensors and control system actuators, including reaction wheels, torque rods, star trackers, IMUs, and magnetometers
- Knowledge of control and optimization theory, orbital mechanics
- Familiarity with geolocation pipelines, sensor calibration, and performance characterization
- Expertise in common numerical programming environments (Python, Julia, MATLAB)
- Experience running dynamics simulations for spacecraft
- Excellent communication, presentation, and coordination skills

Responsibilities
- Architect a modular, multi-mission spacecraft GNC subsystem
- Develop and manage GNC system requirements and flow them down to GNC hardware and GNC algorithms teams
- Define pointing and agility budgets to meet mission targeting, geolocation, and stability requirements
- Guide GNC hardware procurement and development, including sensor/actuator sizing and make-vs-buy trades
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and execute verification and validation (V&V) of the GNC system
- Oversee development of GNC component emulators in integrated system modeling environments
- Support integration and testing of GNC systems at both system and vehicle levels (HIL, SIL, DITL testing on testbeds and flight vehicles)
- Contribute to scheduling algorithms for dynamic tasking of remote sensing spacecraft
- Perform anomaly resolution and support mission operations for in-orbit spacecraft
- Inform the development of an offline geolocation processing pipeline to enhance pointing accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a systems engineer for spacecraft
- Experience with propulsive maneuvers for stationkeeping and formation flying
- Hands-on experience building test setups for GNC components
- Familiarity with space mission operations and anomaly resolution processes
