Summary
Join Mercury's infrastructure team as a pioneer in cloud technology, shaping robust and scalable architectures. Your mission involves steering our cloud infrastructure into the future, incorporating AI, migrating to ECS, and scaling our observability pipeline. You will utilize AWS services, Terraform, Nix/NixOS, and monitoring tools to manage and enhance our infrastructure. This role is pivotal in advancing our monitoring frameworks, troubleshooting automated services, and leading key infrastructure projects. It's an opportunity to utilize AI and automation to improve team workflows and contribute to Mercury's growth.
Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience with AWS
- Have extensive experience, ideally 2 years or more, with observability and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, optimizing system performance and reliability
- Have demonstrated ability in technical writing, with at least 3 years of experience creating detailed technical documentation, RFCs, and tech specs that clearly communicate complex ideas
Responsibilities
- Advance our monitoring and alerting frameworks to minimize direct system access and improve operational efficiency
- Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and refine automated services to minimize manual intervention and improve system resilience
- Lead key infrastructure projects, break-down complex initiatives, and define our infrastructure strategy through detailed RFCs and technical specifications
- Utilize AI and automation to supercharge our teams workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Bring experience leading infrastructure projects in regulated environments such as HITRUST or SOC2, ensuring compliance and security
- Have 2+ years of experience managing large-scale Terraform implementations, including the setup and maintenance of Terraform CI/CD pipelines
- Have 2+ years of experience using configuration management tools such as Nix/Ansible, maintaining consistent and automated system configurations across multiple environments
- Have experience with deploying containers in ECS or another container orchestrator and have hands-on experience with container image creation, optimizing Dockerfiles, and implementing security best practices for containers
