Senior Java Developer

Summary

Join PingWind as a Senior Java Developer supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. You will contribute to the analysis, design, and development of custom applications and web services, integrating them with commercial imaging products. This role requires strong Java development skills and experience in improving system performance and efficiency. You will collaborate with project leadership, users, and test engineers throughout the Agile development lifecycle. US citizenship and the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance are required; an active clearance is preferred. PingWind offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline
• 8 years’ Experience developing with Java as primary language to applying process improvement and re-engineering on windows environment. Knowledge in VistA Imaging applications is a Plus
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
• Experience working in and with cross-functional team and willing to be flexible to learn new technologies
• Outcome-oriented approach focused on delivering value to end users backed by measurable, data-driven results
• Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the medical imaging exchange ecosystem
• U.S. Citizenship: Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Developers in evaluating VA environments, performance, and costs seeking for ways to reduce friction, and increase efficiency and speed
• Work with the project leadership and users to define/ analyze system requirements and design software solutions using Java
• Perform refactoring or repair of existing applications to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
• Participate in code maintenance, quality management and automation of DevOps functionality
• Participate in Agile software development lifecycle activities as part of an Agile team
• Work closely with Test Engineers to resolve defects in test and production environments
