Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Summary

Join the Wikimedia Foundation as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and contribute to improving Wikipedia and similar projects. You will be part of a small, globally distributed team, working on planning, developing, training, deploying, and managing production machine learning models. Collaborate with various teams and the volunteer community to build and maintain scalable models. This role requires extensive experience in machine learning engineering and MLOps, specifically in NLP tasks. Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in an MLE and/or MLOps role as part of a team maintaining production models
• Experience with popular Python ML libraries
• Strong ML background, particularly solving NLP tasks
• Strong English language skills
• Experience with global coworkers
• Experience with remote work and/or async work

Responsibilities

• Work with internal and external customers to build, deploy, and manage productionized, scaled machine learning models. This includes communicating with customers, assessing needs, scoping tooling, gathering training data, training the model, deploying it, and monitoring it
• Help other teams at the Foundation and the broader community understand the team's work

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fine-tuning pre-trained models
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipeline orchestration
• Experience with any pipeline orchestration tool (Airflow, Kubeflow, Argo workflows etc)
• Experience with volunteer communities and open-source software development
