Requirements

  • Advanced science or clinical degree (e.g., MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA)
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a positive attitude, possessing the initiative required to achieve goals both independently and within a team structure
  • Demonstrated expertise in ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific information
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Actively listen to others and be adept at confidently stating expert opinion while respecting the position of others
  • Skillfully plan, prioritize, and execute multiple responsibilities and projects
  • Able to travel frequently, up to 60% overnight travel and have a valid driver's license
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new applications
  • Strong business acumen

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop professional relationships with thought leaders and other healthcare professionals, study investigators, and professional organizations in gastroenterology and hepatology within their assigned geography
  • Support research initiatives across clinical development and provide support to study site investigators
  • Serve as a liaison between HCPs interested in investigator-initiated research with Mirum to facilitate review and consideration of research proposals
  • Engage in scientific exchange in response to thought leader requests
  • Provide education relative to adult and pediatric liver disease and, when appropriate, Mirum’s approved and investigational products throughout the lifecycle
  • Communicate thought leader insights and observations to medical affairs and clinical development on a timely basis
  • Effectively articulate relevant scientific and clinical information relative to the therapeutic area to HCPs and researchers
  • Utilize scientific resources to deliver impactful presentations to varying audiences and in a variety of different settings including (but not limited to) advisory boards, patient advocacy groups, and investigators
  • Provide accurate and unbiased assessment of community needs to senior management
  • Stay abreast of emerging scientific literature and clinical trial data in both pediatric and adult gastroenterology and hepatology
  • Support the congress and conference strategy, providing scientific support and communication of scientific insights
  • Fully comply with all company SOPs, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws including PhRMA guidelines for field-based employees
  • Complete other responsibilities in a timely manner, as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years MSL experience
  • Prior experience as a MSL in gastroenterology, hepatology and/or rare disease
  • Established relationships with gastroenterology and/or hepatology thought leaders
  • Launch experience
