Summary

Join PsiQuantum, a company building the world's first useful quantum computer, and become a Photonic Component Development Engineer. You will develop, prototype, characterize, and integrate novel optical structures, devices, and subsystems for a linear optic quantum computer (LOQC). This role involves pushing the boundaries of high-performance integrated photonic components and collaborating with various teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong fundamentals in optics, material science, electromagnetics, and nanofabrication. Requirements

  • Hold a PhD or equivalent in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Material Science, Physics
  • Have 6 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated optics
  • Possess experience with micro and nano fabrication techniques and tools
  • Possess experience with CMOS and VLSI tools and processes
  • Have strong fundamentals of the design and characterization of integrated optical components
  • Have strong fundamentals in electro-magnetic theory, statistical analysis, and quantum mechanics
  • Be a proven team player with an ability to work effectively across departments, sites, time zones
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have strong analytical and detail oriented problem-solving skills
  • Have proven experience executing cross-department complex projects
  • Be able to work independently with limited direction
  • Have a demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver against a schedule

Responsibilities

  • Interact with device, hardware and software design teams to deliver passive photonic components that meet target specs
  • Develop novel techniques, components, and sub-systems and manage their development from concept, to prototyping, to integration into a CMOS process flow, to final assembly, packaging, and qualification
  • Have hands-on involvement in every step of the technology development cycle - fundamental model development, prototyping, testing, data analysis, design qualification, and process integration
  • Provide multi-disciplinary support to component and systems teams by resolving technical issues associated with components, parts, products, or systems
  • Apply quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and propose, develop and implement solutions for corrective action
