Requirements

  • Proven experience with PHP and advanced WordPress development (themes, plugins, hooks, filters)
  • Hands-on experience with decoupled/headless WordPress architectures and WordPress VIP hosting
  • Strong proficiency in building and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Experience working in enterprise-scale, high-traffic media environments
  • Familiarity with performance optimization tools such as Elasticsearch, Memcached, Redis, and CDNs
  • Ability to lead architectural decisions and collaborate cross-functionally

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration from a proprietary CMS to a decoupled WordPress setup on WordPress VIP
  • Design and develop custom WordPress themes and plugins with a focus on performance, security, and scalability
  • Build and integrate REST and GraphQL APIs to support dynamic content delivery and editorial workflows
  • Optimize backend systems using tools like Elasticsearch, Memcached, Redis, and CDN-level caching
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and implement architectural solutions
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews and technical documentation
  • Ensure code quality, accessibility, and adherence to best practices
  • Participate in the interview process and provide feedback on technical and soft skills assessments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
  • Knowledge of web security best practices and OWASP guidelines
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit, Jest)
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
