Senior Platform Engineer

Summary

Join ShiftKey as a Senior Platform Engineer and design, develop, and maintain cloud-based applications. You will be responsible for ensuring platform stability, scalability, and performance, applying SRE best practices, and optimizing code. Leading key platform projects, you'll deliver solutions aligned with company goals and help transition the system from monolithic to microservices architecture. This role requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience and 6+ years of experience in software engineering with the PHP stack, including Laravel. Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of experience in software engineering with the PHP stack, including Laravel
• Extensive experience in designing, programming, and implementing large-scale information systems
• Proven track record in transforming monolithic applications into microservices
• Ability to evaluate and analyze complex technological issues in depth
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure and services, with strong knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (preferably AWS), and experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Basic understanding of SRE principles, including monitoring, alerting, and automation to improve system resilience, optimize performance, and reduce operational toil

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cross-team applications, performing coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process
• Drive large-scale architectural changes to transition monolithic applications to microservices, ensuring scalability, modularity, and improved fault tolerance across distributed systems
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance cloud infrastructure to support the deployment and operation of applications and services
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve current projects and infrastructure, advocating for and implementing enhancements, introducing new tools and technologies, and promoting best practices in platform development and operations
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to automate provisioning, scaling, and management of cloud resources
