Senior Platform Engineer

Summary

Join SmarterDx as a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate a development platform for product and service creation. You will contribute to platform capabilities, build and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform, develop Kubernetes controllers in Go, and deploy libraries in Python and Typescript. Ensure data security by implementing secure patterns, support the production platform with an SRE mindset, and research improved techniques. This fully remote US-based role requires 7-10+ years of development experience, expertise with Terraform and Kubernetes, and experience with Go and Python. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience is needed.

Requirements

• 7-10+ years of development experience, with a focus on backend and cloud-based solutions
• 2+ years of hands-on production work with cloud infrastructure, containers, monitoring, and alerting
• 3+ years in a security-conscious environment
• Expertise with Terraform
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with Go and Python, especially using Kubernetes APIs
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and capabilities of the SmarterDx development platform
• Build, deploy, maintain, and monitor common AWS infrastructure with Terraform
• Build capabilities using Kubernetes custom controllers in Go and deploy common libraries in Python and Typescript to utilize common data, observability, and monitoring systems
• Ensure the security of our clients’ data by building secure patterns into the fabric of the system in close collaboration with Security Engineering
• Support the SmarterDx platform in production, applying an SRE mindset and toolkit
• Research and advocate for improved techniques, processes, and designs within the team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ETL/ELT processes and tools like AirFlow and dbt
• Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouses
• Prior experience in the healthcare sector
