Summary

Join Lightspeed as a Senior Quality Test Developer and play a key role in evolving and maintaining our in-house Python-based end-to-end (E2E) testing framework. You will act as a hands-on contributor and technical mentor, helping shape the future of our test automation strategy. Drive quality and reliability at scale, improve developer productivity, and ensure our automated tests are robust and scalable. Make an impact in a growing part of the business from day one, working with innovative people. Maintain and enhance our custom-built Python-based E2E testing framework, supporting and mentoring other Quality Test Developers. Lead technical discussions, propose improvements, and drive architectural decisions related to test automation. Collaborate with the Developer Experience (DX) squad and other teams to enhance test reliability and performance. Advocate for maintaining the highest product quality and investigate and resolve flaky tests.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead by example, with a track record of mentoring and growing engineering talent
  • Very strong understanding of CI/CD systems and how automated tests integrate into the development pipeline
  • Experience reducing test flakiness and improving test reliability in complex systems
  • Comfortable collaborating across teams and disciplines, particularly with developer tooling and infrastructure teams
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate quality goals into actionable outcomes
  • You are a problem solver that does not shy away from tackling complexity, and a critical thinker who raises the bar and elevates their teammates to new heights

  • Very strong experience with test automation and E2E testing in Python (at least 5+ years)
  • Strong experience with Playwright / Selenium and Appium
  • Strong experience with CI tools
  • Experience in automation test design, planning, execution, analysis, automation script maintenance, and issue escalation

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance our custom-built, Python-based E2E testing framework, ensuring it evolves to meet the growing needs of the engineering organization
  • Support and mentor other Quality Test Developers, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in automation, code quality, and testing strategies
  • Lead technical discussions, propose improvements, and drive architectural decisions related to test automation
  • Work closely with the Developer Experience (DX) squad to align on tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and integrations that enhance test reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with Quality Specialists, Product Managers and Developers
  • Act as an advocate for maintaining the highest product quality
  • Investigate and resolve flaky tests, contributing to stable and trustworthy test runs that reduce noise and improve team confidence
  • Develop and execute strategies for maintaining and refactoring existing test cases, increasing their reliability, readability, and long-term maintainability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent knowledge
  • Experience in mobile automation testing (ideally in iOS/Apple environments)
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and tools (AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes)
  • Working knowledge of hospitality terminology and concepts
