Join our team as a Senior RIS Data Migration Specialist and oversee the migration of data between Radiology Information Systems (RIS). You will ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards, working with IT, clinical, and administrative teams. Seamless data transitions from legacy systems to modern platforms are key, optimizing workflows and maintaining patient data privacy and security. Responsibilities include data migration planning, extraction and transformation, loading and validation, collaboration and communication, regulatory compliance and security, troubleshooting and support, and documentation and training. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare data management and RIS data migration, along with strong technical skills and a commitment to data accuracy and security. Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare data management or RIS data migration
- Proven experience with radiology information systems, PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), and HIS (Hospital Information Systems)
- Experience with data migration tools and methodologies, including ETL processes
- Strong understanding of database structures, SQL, and healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, DICOM)
- Proficiency in ETL tools and technologies (e.g., Talend, Informatica, SSIS)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database management (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server)
- Familiarity with RIS, HIS, and PACS systems, including vendor-specific platforms
- Understanding of healthcare data privacy laws and regulations (HIPAA, GDPR)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on troubleshooting data-related issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and security
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in fast-paced environments
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage comprehensive data migration strategies for RIS systems
- Assess and map existing RIS data structures and develop customized migration pathways
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze data migration requirements
- Perform extraction of clinical, operational, and administrative data from legacy RIS systems
- Use ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools to clean, transform, and prepare data for migration
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity during transformation processes
- Load transformed data into the target RIS platform and perform comprehensive validation to ensure data completeness
- Implement validation tests to identify any inconsistencies, discrepancies, or data loss during migration
- Conduct post-migration verification and provide reports to stakeholders
- Work with cross-functional teams including radiologists, IT, compliance officers, and third-party vendors to ensure data migration meets functional and clinical requirements
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to project management and stakeholders
- Ensure all migrated data adheres to regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, GDPR, and other data privacy standards
- Implement robust security measures to safeguard patient and sensitive data during the migration process
- Identify and resolve any data migration-related issues, including inconsistencies, corrupted data, or system compatibility challenges
- Provide post-migration support to ensure smooth adoption of the new system
- Document the migration process, including methodologies, tools used, and data migration reports
- Provide training to relevant staff members on how to manage, access, and use data in the new RIS system
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Certifications in healthcare data management
- Certifications in ETL/Data Management or related topics
