Requirements
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience
- Proven expertise in bioinformatics, particularly in genomics data analysis
- Strong experience in managing and analyzing large-scale genomic and healthcare datasets
- Demonstrated expertise in human genomics, including familiarity with inherited disorders, genomic alterations, molecular mechanisms, and disease biology
- Expert knowledge of bioinformatics tools in mapping, variant calling, CNV analysis and statistical methods
- Understanding of real-world data, such as electronic health records, claims data, patient registries, or health surveys
- Ability to interpret clinical endpoints, understand patient cohorts, and collaborate with clinical stakeholders
- Proficiency in predictive analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling
- Excellent project management skills with a proven track record in leading successful projects
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python or R, SQL, and data visualization tools
- Exceptional communication skills, both for technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including clinicians, scientists, biostatisticians, regulatory and stakeholders
- Experience managing one or more direct/indirect reports
- Ability to produce high quality written documentation for varying audiences
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple objectives and timelines
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with potential for high impact in a small team
Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis of large-scale cancer and germline genomics datasets to extract meaningful insights
- Utilize advanced bioinformatics tools and techniques to interpret genomic data in the context of real-world evidence studies
- Develop and implement innovative data visualization strategies to effectively communicate complex genomic data and analysis results
- Use tools such as R, R Shiny, or Python libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn) to create intuitive and interactive visual representations
- Develop and implement predictive analytics models to forecast trends and outcomes using real-world evidence and genomics data
- Utilize machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to identify patterns and insights that inform clinical decision-making and business strategy development
- Oversee and manage genomics projects from inception to completion
- Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards
- Work closely with other departments such as R&D, Data Science, Business Development, Medical Affairs, Product Management, and Engineering to integrate genomics data into broader research and development initiatives
- Facilitate the integration of genomics data with other types of data (clinical, demographic, etc.) to enrich the analyses
- Manage large datasets and ensure data integrity and confidentiality
- Present complex genomics data and analyses in a clear and comprehensible manner to a variety of audiences, including non-experts
- Prepare detailed reports and publications
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in genomics and bioinformatics
- Propose and develop new methods and technologies for advanced data analysis
- Engage with key stakeholders to define project goals, report progress, and discuss findings
- Act as a liaison between the technical team and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional expertise in germline genetics, particularly in relation to organ health and women's health, is a significant plus
- Knowledge of translational medicine and/or early discovery in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus
