Join Healthie as a Senior API Software Engineer to lead the development and enhancement of our GraphQL API, supporting a rapidly growing developer community. This hands-on role involves driving API evolution, ensuring developers have the tools and resources needed, and continuously improving the developer toolkit. You will collaborate with the Engineering team, prioritize high-impact updates, create well-tested code, and maintain high-quality documentation. Shape the API roadmap based on customer feedback and industry best practices. This full-time, remote position requires 6+ years of backend or full-stack development experience with strong GraphQL or REST API expertise. The role offers a base salary of $160,000-$190,000 per year.
Requirements
- 6+ years experience in backend or full-stack development, with deep GraphQL or REST API expertise
- Experience building developer tools or SDKs, ideally in TypeScript, Python, or another major language
- Strong empathy, delivering solutions that enhance the developer experience by anticipating needs and building with excellence in mind
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts
- A bias toward execution, consistently focusing on getting the job done and driving results even when faced with challenges

Responsibilities
- Design and enhance GraphQL APIs to support scalability, discoverability, and ease of use
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on authentication, rate limiting, pagination, enums, error handling, versioning strategies and other foundational platform features
- Build or support multi-language SDKs and improve our React SDKs
- Contribute to and maintain our API Explorer, Quickstart guides, and developer docs
- Partner with Product & Engineering to shape our public-facing developer experience
- Improve internal tooling and logging for better API observability and debugging
- Influence architectural decisions and mentor junior developers
Preferred Qualifications
GraphQL strongly preferred, bonus points for Ruby on Rails
