Summary

Join 6sense as a Staff Software Engineer and become a technical pillar across engineering teams. This role is perfect for a seasoned backend engineer who enjoys tackling complex problems, mentoring colleagues, and shaping architecture across various domains. You will be a key contributor, working independently, influencing technical direction, and collaborating with engineers and product teams to elevate standards throughout the organization. You will focus on improving system performance, reliability, and scalability across squads, while taking ownership of high-impact projects supporting the Conversational Email (CE) platform. Your contributions will have a significant impact, whether it's resolving performance bottlenecks, leading the design of new backend services, or reducing technical debt.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in backend engineering with deep expertise in designing complex distributed systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, Ruby, and cloud platforms like AWS
  • Excellent system design and architecture skills
  • Comfortable debugging performance issues, tackling infra and security problems, and driving org-wide improvements
  • Strong mentorship and communication skills, with a track record of influencing across teams

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead design for major backend systems across CE, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to address cross-cutting concerns (e.g., shared libraries, infra patterns, tech debt, security)
  • Tackle escalated production issues, security vulnerabilities, and architectural decisions
  • Contribute to and guide implementation of large features (e.g., platform-wide improvements, big bets within CE)
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers across levels and help raise the engineering bar
  • Drive documentation, performance profiling, and system-level debugging practices
  • Work with EMs and PMs to shape technical roadmap and support long-term platform health

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SingleStore, email deliverability systems (e.g., SMTP), or platform architecture at scale
