Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Bitwarden's Platform team as a Senior Software Engineer and play a key role in supporting the entire engineering organization. The team's mission is to enable other engineering teams to develop high-quality software across various clients. Collaborate with feature teams to design forward-looking solutions and ensure supporting services meet evolving business needs. This is a fully remote position for U.S.-based candidates; visa sponsorship is not offered. The team is composed of passionate engineers dedicated to solving complex problems. The role involves building and maintaining core services, updating workflows, ensuring secure client operation, and resolving bugs.

Requirements

• A desire to join the Platform team mission to support our engineering teams
• Extensive experience developing in Rust and coaching others on how to build Rust applications
• Familiarity with integrating Rust into other clients using WASM and UNIFFI bindings
• Experience with CI workflows in Github Actions
• In-depth knowledge of the Linux OS and experience developing applications to run on Linux clients
• Experience developing and maintaining Electron-based applications
• Collaborative and adaptable mindset
• Openness and authenticity combined with excellent communication skills
• Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and for better internet security
• Excellent problem-solving skills – you might not know all the answers, but you know how to find and communicate the solution

Responsibilities

• Engage with engineers on our feature teams to understand their needs and translate into requirements for development
• Build and maintain core services and systems in our TypeScript clients and Rust SDK in support of our other engineering teams
• Update and maintain our build workflows and CI pipelines in Github Actions to ensure they are, secure, consistent, and performant, and support changes as our application ecosystem evolves
• Ensure that our clients can be securely run across our different platforms and operating systems while providing a consistent development experience
• Triage, diagnose, and resolve bugs reported by our community and our customers
• Update and validate core dependencies to ensure a secure and stable supply chain

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of modern encryption techniques and principles of secure development are a plus
