Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Chainguard's Guarded Containers team and contribute to the development of innovative features for our core product, Chainguard Images. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, design services, build and improve tooling and infrastructure, and maintain product quality standards. This role requires expertise in containers, container registries, and infrastructure as code. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and a minimum of 5 years of software development experience. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience in software development, data structures, algorithms, compilers, Makefiles, and toolchains
• Expertise with containers, container registries, Docker, Kubernetes and its greater ecosystem
• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code, and proficiency in creating modules and organizing resources logically for reuse
• Competence in scripting and automation, with languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or similar
• Strong communication skills, proficiency in English, ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and seek help proactively when necessary

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to design innovative services and features that enhance the core product, making it more compelling and valuable
• Develop robust tooling and infrastructure to continue to improve our image build system as it scales
• Define product quality standards and write tools to enforce them
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and executive leaders to innovate, plan, and drive technical goals
