Summary
Join TuxCare, a CloudLinux subsidiary, as a Senior Software Engineer and contribute to the development and maintenance of Windows-based projects. You will build, modify, and maintain .NET (C#/.NET) applications, ensuring stability and performance. This role also involves working with and supporting open-source C/C++ projects, adapting them for Windows. The position requires strong C#, C++, and Windows environment expertise, along with experience in build automation and version control. Requirements
- Solid knowledge of C# and the .NET infrastructure (especially on Windows)
- Good C/C++ skills with experience building under Windows (Visual Studio, MinGW, Cygwin)
- Strong understanding of the Windows environment: system libraries, compilers, loaders, and compatibility nuances
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Ability to handle dependencies, adjust build scripts, and resolve compatibility issues
- Skills in reading and analyzing open-source code
- Familiarity with PowerShell and automation of build/deployment processes
Responsibilities
- Build, modify, and maintain .NET on Windows
- Make changes and extensions, maintain .NET (C#/.NET) on Windows
- Modify .NET and C/C++ codebases to ensure stable operation on Windows
- Possess a deep understanding of the Windows infrastructure (especially system components and the build process)
- Be able to work with various build approaches: MSBuild/Visual Studio as well as alternative tools (MinGW, Cygwin)
- Set up build automation (CI/CD) for various Windows environments (including MSBuild, MinGW, Cygwin, etc.)
- Build and support various open-source C/C++ projects on Windows
- Maintain, fix bugs, and adapt them for Windows
- Handle project builds with an awareness of dependencies and environment differences (especially when Windows support is limited)
- Maintain and develop or port existing build scripts (PowerShell/Bash/Batch, etc.)
- Investigate, fix, and track issues encountered during building or running open-source projects
- Work with version control systems (Git), participate in code reviews, and handle pull/merge requests
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in setting up and running CI/CD (GitLab, Jenkins, or similar) for Windows projects
- Understanding cross-platform builds (Linux/Windows) and experience working with package managers (vcpkg, NuGet, Conan, etc.)
- Experience interacting with open-source communities, contributing pull requests, and engaging in discussions
