Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Discord's Social Layer of Gaming team as a Software Engineer and help build tools for game developers to enhance the Discord gaming experience. Collaborate with game developer partners, providing technical expertise and support using our SDKs and APIs. You will build features across our stack, focusing on C++ SDKs, APIs, and backend systems. Maintain high software quality, pair with engineers to develop scalable code, and work with cross-functional teams. This US-based role requires native-level Mandarin proficiency, 2 years of C++ experience, 4-5 years of software engineering experience, and experience working with external partners. The salary range is $183,000 - $201,000 + equity + benefits.

Requirements

• Have native-level proficiency in Mandarin
• Have 2 years experience with C++ and 4-5 as a software engineer
• Have experience working as an engineer directly with external partners
• Have a strong sense for product and design thinking and how that applies to an SDK
• Take a holistic approach to problem solving

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with our game developer partners and support them as they build out games and services that rely on our SDKs and APIs
• Build out features for our audience of game developers
• Use your attention to detail to constantly raise our software quality bar
• Pair with the other engineers on the team to write, review, and ship elegant, scalable code
• Work with our product managers, designers, and partner managers to cut through ambiguity and find the best way forward
