Requirements

  • 5+ years writing production code in a modern language (Typescript, Python, Java, Kotlin, Rust, Swift, Go, etc.)
  • 3+ years working with relational databases
  • 3+ years executing DevOps type tasks in a public cloud
  • A proven leader who has led teams to build consumer-facing products from start to finish
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and member needs into a technical vision and product development roadmap
  • Experience collaborating closely with product, design, customer success and other business functions to creatively solve customer needs
  • Deep critical reasoning skills and strong business judgment to make sound decisions and provide clear rationale
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; ability to innovate and think outside the box
  • Proven experience building production grade software in a security conscious industry, preferably Healthcare or FinTech
  • Pride in your work but a primary focus on execution and releasing valuable software
  • Realistic estimation skills with the ability to negotiate scope and compromise
  • A love for learning, coaching, and mentorship

Responsibilities

  • Work with a small, high-performing, user-centric engineering team that consistently delivers high-impact work that meets our members' and customers' needs
  • Dive into the details as needed, reviewing team members' code and providing coaching and feedback to cultivate a culture of open communication, quality, security, and best practices
  • Oversee and drive the current release process while identifying opportunities to improve and streamline more stable and frequent releases
  • Bring clarity when faced with ambiguity; motivate and guide the team through complex problem solving
  • Partner closely with the Principal Engineer to design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain production software that serves our wonderful members
  • Partner closely with the members of the product team to help bring clarity and alignment with requirements and expectations on scope and delivery
  • Drive a security- and quality-first approach and culture with team members
  • Implement monitoring strategies to detect production issues, and help diagnose and mitigate them when they arise
