Senior Software Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Backend Engineer in Henry Meds' Shared Services team. The role involves building robust backend services, improving developer experience, and enhancing shared services. The ideal candidate should have 6+ years of experience in backend programming, familiarity with cloud environments, and experience with end-to-end development.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building successful production software systems
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (.Net/C#, Python, Java, Go, etc)
• Experience working in cloud environments
• Familiarity with backend technologies and concepts like APIs, Data & Application Security, DevOps
• Experience with end-to-end development including testing, CI/CD
• Experience with at least one SQL dialect
• Experience designing and architecting scalable solutions
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Experience building libraries, tools and frameworks to grow and diversify product catalog
• Self-starter that can handle ambiguity and take an idea to a product independently
• Experience with / understanding of event driven systems & infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Build robust, well engineered backend services
• Improve developer experience by creating reusable libraries and frameworks
• Enhance user experience, reliability, and feature sets of existing shared services
• Validate technologies and approaches to achieve development objectives
• Collaborate across teams and departments to ensure business objectives are achieved
• Design, implement, and maintain solutions used across engineering
• Collaborate with engineers across the engineering department to identify opportunities and source requirements
• Assist other teams in adopting new patterns, technologies, practices
• Assess and install automated guardrails for code quality, security, etc
• Mentor and guide other developers
• Conduct architecture reviews
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
• Work to automate and support workflows across the business

Preferred Qualifications

• .Net/C#
• Typescript / Node / Deno
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP )
• Experience / familiarity with common database technologies and patterns like SQL (Postgres), NoSQL, etc
• DataDog
• GraphQL (Apollo, Hasura)
• Familiarity / understanding of data compliance & certification (HIPAA, SOC2, etc)
• Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) (Terraform, cloud formation, etc)
