Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Kraken's Crypto team as a fully remote engineer to integrate Kraken's systems with a growing number of cryptocurrencies and blockchains. Elevate clients' crypto journeys and create innovative ways to accelerate crypto adoption. Collaborate with backend, blockchain, and frontend teams. Design and implement robust Rust services and libraries, ensuring seamless integration of new features. Write efficient, testable code and contribute to large-scale distributed systems architecture. Work alongside experienced Rust engineers and leverage opportunities to work with on-chain data. This role requires significant experience in software engineering and proficiency in Rust, along with a deep understanding of distributed systems and blockchain ecosystems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Proficiently in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust
• Have a security-first mindset during system design to ensure robustness
• Demonstrate the ability to autonomously debug issues across the stack (OS, network, application)
• Apply a solid understanding of distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event-Driven Systems, to design scalable solutions
• Collaborate effectively with product teams to gather requirements and constraints for designing appropriate systems
• Take complete end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries

• Write reusable, testable, and highly efficient code

• Work side by side with hundreds of experienced Rust engineers
• Opportunities to work with on-chain data
• Partner closely with crypto native engineers
• Provide mentorship to other engineers while contributing to defining the technical culture

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep knowledge in one or more blockchain ecosystems such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cosmos, Solana, Substrate is a huge plus
• Proficiency with Typescript (Node.js) is a plus
• Strong passion for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
• Pragmatic and solution-oriented, stoic in the face of many obstacles
• Proactively adapt to rapidly evolving technologies and apply innovative solutions to dynamic challenges, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced development environment
• Demonstrates a receptive mindset, adept at engaging in constructive dialogue on complex subjects with colleagues, while remaining adaptable and open to alternative perspectives
