Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Lithic, a company building card issuing and payment infrastructure, as a Sr. Software Engineer. You will lead the next phase of growth for the Card Issuing team, balancing technical leadership with coding. Responsibilities include ensuring API reliability, developing new card lifecycle features, delivering secure and scalable code, owning initiatives from planning to launch, improving systems and processes, driving strategic planning, mentoring team members, and participating in on-call rotation. You will become an expert in the card payments space, primarily using Python and C++. The role requires experience in production environments, advanced distributed system skills, cross-functional project leadership, a commitment to empathy and inclusion, and excellent communication skills. A growth mindset and interest in fintech are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high reliability and availability for Lithic’s API
• Lead development of new card lifecycle features (card issuance, tokenization, and physical card manufacturing)
• Ensure that the team is delivering reliable, secure, and scalable code with minimal tech debt
• Own initiatives from planning to launch, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned along the way
• Lead efforts to improve systems and processes both within the team and across engineering
• Drive strategic planning in collaboration with the engineering manager and product manager
• Mentor, sponsor, and empower team members to help them grow
• Participate in the team on-call rotation
