Summary

Join Materialize's Cloud team as a seasoned engineer to lead the expansion of its real-time data platform into new cloud providers. You will build and run the fully managed cloud service, contribute to the self-managed offering, and improve internal operational systems. This role involves tackling diverse challenges, from establishing foundational cloud networking and IAM to integrating CI/CD, billing, auth, and APIs. The position requires 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong cloud provider and infrastructure-as-code tool expertise, and a collaborative spirit. Onsite visits to NYC are required 2-3 times per year. The salary range is $160,000-$225,000 + equity.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • You are impact oriented, excited to ramp up in new areas, and comfortable with navigating ambiguity
  • You have strong experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and at least one infrastructure-as-code tool (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
  • You possess a growth mindset, always looking to expand your skills and capabilities
  • You're a clear communicator and enjoy collaborating closely across teams
  • You enjoy taking ownership of large problems, and have a track record of leading successful cross-cutting projects

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate our managed cloud, ensuring security, availability, and performance for our SaaS product
  • Automate and streamline operations: write database orchestration logic, maintain robust CI pipelines, and bring order to the intersection points between cloud infra and business operations
  • Contribute to our self-managed offering that enables customers to deploy Materialize in their cloud of choice
  • Debug and resolve complex distributed cloud issuesβ€”from tricky network glitches to Kubernetes operator quirks and third-party integrations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GCP and/or Azure
  • Experience operating production databases or managing other critical systems
  • Willingness to participate in our voluntary on-call rotation

Benefits

SALARY RANGE: $160,000 - $225,000 + Equity
