Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Join Shippo's Billing & Fraud Prevention team as a Senior Software Engineer. We're a rapidly expanding company building a best-in-class billing and payment processing system and fraud detection systems. You'll provide technical leadership in design, architecture, and coding. Your contributions will support new products and pricing models, protecting our customers from fraud. This role involves collaboration with product and engineering teams, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to our SaaS billing system, postage billing system, and fraud prevention ecosystem. The position requires significant experience in building high-volume distributed systems and strong communication skills. Shippo offers a remote-first work environment.

Requirements

• BSc in a STEAM field, with a preference for computer science and software engineering
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience of hands-on engineering experience building high volume distributed systems and scalable APIs, services, or applications
• Coding experience in server-side programming languages (e.g. Go, Python, Java, Ruby)
• Experience with data analysis and reporting
• Excellent communication abilities, adept at conveying information clearly and effectively to stakeholders across different departments and levels within the organization

Responsibilities

• Contribute to our SaaS billing system, bundling, pricing and packaging tools in order to support go to market strategies
• Maintain and extend our existing postage billing system to support a high throughput invoicing system
• Contribute to and maintain our fraud prevention ecosystem
• Work with our product team to refine the scope of new products and capabilities
• Collaborate with fellow engineers to create milestones that support product requirements
• Mentors fellow engineers
