Summary

Join Trunk, a company building tools to empower engineering teams to develop software faster and happier. We're looking for a Software Engineer with 4-5+ years of experience to design and build development and production platforms, accelerate engineering productivity, and guide product engineering teams on best practices. You'll work with a modern tech stack (Typescript, React, Node, AWS, etc.) and be part of an on-call rotation. Requirements

  • Have 4-5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Be located within commute distance of San Francisco and be willing to work in the office at least 8 days per month
  • Have experience in areas such as databases, distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, and data infrastructure
  • Derive joy from refactoring and building clean abstractions in order to make complex systems fun to develop on and easy to understand
  • Possess excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills and the tenacity to drive a solution to a conclusion
  • Have the experience and intuition to zero in on root causes for bugs that can leave others stumped
  • Have the ability to operate independently, but know when you are in too deep and need to ask for help
  • Have the ability to collaborate with colleagues to plan and execute the best solution

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the development and production platforms that power our products, enabling reliability and security at scale
  • Accelerate engineering productivity by empowering your fellow engineers with excellent tooling and systems
  • Guide and advise product engineering teams on best practices for ensuring observable, scalable systems
  • Be responsible for the reliability of the systems you build, including an on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents as needed
