Summary
Join Ubiminds, a GPTW-certified company, and contribute to the development of an exciting new product suite for Public Safety as a Senior Software Engineer. You will be part of a small team, focusing on backend development using Python and Django, building scalable and reliable software systems. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining software, collaborating with other teams, troubleshooting issues, and mentoring junior developers. The position requires strong Python and Django experience, excellent communication skills, and 5+ years of professional software development experience. Requirements
- Advanced/fluent English skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- You are comfortable working 9-5 EST - we have a fair amount of flexibility for people to get their work done whenever works for them, but our core hours are Eastern Timezone
- Strong experience developing backend systems using Python and Django; experience with Ruby and Rails is a plus
- Deep understanding of object-oriented design, domain modeling, and software engineering principles
- Experience designing and working with RESTful APIs and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Proven track record of contributing to and maintaining large-scale production systems
- Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills and a desire to mentor others
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in modern web environments
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable software systems
- Write high-quality, maintainable code that meets both functional and non-functional requirements
- Take ownership of complex technical projects from design through delivery
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering to build solutions aligned with business goals
- Troubleshoot and resolve challenging issues to ensure performance and reliability
- Participate in code reviews, promoting best practices and continuous improvement
- Mentor and support junior developers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to planning, prioritization, and estimation to ensure smooth execution and realistic timelines
- Create and maintain clear, thorough technical documentation
- Stay current with technologies and tools, and share insights that inform technical direction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud environments and managing cloud-based deployments
- Familiarity with Scrum and Kanban methodologies
- Knowledge of RESTful API principles and database design
