Summary

Join Vanta's Foundations team as a Senior Backend Engineer and contribute to the core data systems that power Vanta's compliance and auditing experiences. You will improve the scalability and reliability of these systems, define how resource data is modeled and queried, collaborate with other teams to understand user needs, and ship quickly while experimenting thoughtfully. Success in this role requires 5+ years of experience, comfort with robust distributed systems, a deep understanding of customer problems, and a bias towards action and experimentation. Requirements

  • Have 5+ years of experience
  • Be comfortable operating robust distributed systems and navigating scaling challenges. Have familiarity with event-driven architecture
  • Care deeply about understanding and solving customer problems
  • Work well in environments that value decisive action and getting things done, and bias towards shipping quickly to validate ideas and experiment rather than building a perfect solution
  • Have led meaningful technical projects from concept to completion

Responsibilities

  • Improve the scalability and reliability of our core data systems, ensuring they’re robust in the face of growth
  • Help define and evolve how we model, store, and query resource data across Vanta
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to understand user needs and prioritize impactful work
  • Ship quickly and experiment thoughtfully to validate ideas and drive product velocity
  • Act as a cultural beacon, setting an example for effective, collaborative engineering and helping mentor junior team members
  • Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
  • Drive initiatives to increase operational posture and execution quality across the engineering organization
