Senior Software Engineer, Game Integrations

Join Discord, a platform used by over 200 million people monthly, primarily for gaming, and help us enhance the user experience. This US-based role involves designing, building, and maintaining features across desktop and mobile platforms. You will collaborate with developers, designers, and other teams to create engaging and trusted experiences. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering experience, expertise in game development software (Unity, Unreal), and experience with modern programming languages (React, Python). Requirements

• You have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• You have experience in Unity, Unreal or other game development software, as well as the backend infrastructure required to scale to an indie-size userbase
• You have experience with React, Python or other modern programming languages
• You are comfortable switching between different technical stacks and learning new ones
• You have a sense for product and design. We don’t operate in silos, and you’ll be collaborating closely with cross-functional peers. You should be able to express opinions and collaborate to make something great
• You take a holistic approach to problem solving. You believe in solving a problem from first principles rather than simply shipping a solution. You learn from your mistakes and work through obstacles with the rest of the team
• You are a Discord user and want to make the product better!

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features that help users connect and make friends through gaming on our platform, across desktop and mobile
• Engage with partners and external developers to find opportunities, evaluate challenges and provide solutions for growing online communities and enriched gaming experiences
• Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Product, and Data Science to build engaging, fun, and trusted experiences, while experimenting and iterating on ideas that enhance user interactions
• Partner with our Content, Marketing and ML teams to improve ranking and discovery systems, enabling users to find meaningful connections and relevant content
• Build innovative features that help users discover new friendships and deepen existing ones, creating a trusted and welcoming environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on social products
• Experience integrating or deploying on Steam (or similar platforms)
• Experience using Epic Games Online Services, Steamworks API, Playfab
• Experience shipping a game on Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo Switch

Benefits

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,500 + equity + benefits
