Join Pax8 as a Senior AI Backend Engineer and be part of a collaborative team pioneering AI infrastructure. You will leverage generative AI, MCP servers, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks to build impactful solutions. Your work will empower other teams, drive automation, and embed AI across applications. Daily tasks involve developing AI tools and applications using Python and JVM languages, collaborating with business teams, and exploring greenfield projects. You will architect AI systems and utilize infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform on Azure or AWS. Success requires a strong backend development and AI background, proficiency in Python and JVM languages, and experience with microservices and data-heavy applications. This role offers the chance to contribute to groundbreaking AI research in a supportive environment.
Requirements
- At least five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant software development experience
- Ability to show advanced proficiency of a relevant programming language (Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go, and/or Python)
- Effective technical leadership abilities
- Advanced experience with one or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go and/or Python
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with innovative application design and implementation
- Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said
- Ability to develop people to meet both their career goals and the organizationβs goals
- Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear
- Ability to make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems

- B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
- Participate in team meetings including grooming sessions, project planning, and other aspects of the agile development lifecycle
- Help level up the team through mentorship and design techniques
- Participate in on-call rotations
