Senior Software Engineer I

Join Samsara's Driver Management team as a Senior Software Engineer and make a significant impact on our platform. You will build solutions empowering millions of drivers daily, boosting their performance and ensuring accurate trip assignments. This critical role involves automating and perfecting driver assignments, directly impacting customer efficiency and success. Leverage cutting-edge AI/ML technologies, including face recognition and LLMs, to innovate and solve real-world problems at scale. This remote role, open to Canadian residents, offers the chance to revolutionize physical operations and drive the future with Samsara. You'll work on a range of technologies, collaborate with various teams, and have a direct impact on our customers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant industry experience in software development
• Strong programming/coding fundamentals with proficiency in at least one of the following: Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage technical discussions
• Experience working on large-scale enterprise software applications

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of complex features and projects, guiding them from initial concept (0-1) through design, development, launch, and ongoing support
• Bring a customer-focused mindset to all development, balancing the need to iterate quickly and deliver customer wins iteratively
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Design stakeholders to translate high-level requirements into robust, scalable features and create sustained and aligned impact
• Mentor and guide more junior engineers on the team
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with frontend technologies (e.g. React, Redux, Typescript)
• Experience working with microservices
• Experience leading projects with several engineering contributors
• Seeks to iterate on new products based on customer feedback
• Experience using LLM technologies is a plus
