Senior Software Engineer I, Backend

Summary

Join Smartsheet's Build Pillar Engineering team as a Sr. SE I and contribute to the development of products that help users organize and standardize their work. You will build scalable back-end services using Kotlin and Java, solve challenging distributed systems problems, and participate in code reviews and architectural discussions. This role requires 5+ years of software development experience, expertise in Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript, and experience with cloud technologies. Requirements

• 5+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications
• 5+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies with Java, Kotlin or TypeScript
• 2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis

Responsibilities

• Build scalable back-end services for the next generation of applications at Smartsheet (Kotlin, Java)
• Solve challenging distributed systems problems and work with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, ECS, Kubernetes)
• Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions as you work with other software engineers and product managers
• Take a leading role in designing key areas of scalable, performant systems
• Mentor junior engineers on code quality and other industry best practices
• Forge a strong partnership with product management and other key areas of the business
