Senior Solutions Engineer

Summary

Join Cloudflare's Solutions Engineering team as a Senior Solutions Engineer and collaborate with large clients, primarily in local and central government and select private sectors. You will work from early-stage ideation to production planning, contributing your expertise and ideas to solve complex problems. This role demands deep technical understanding, strong client communication, and a deploy-to-production mindset. You will leverage your experience to guide clients and contribute to Cloudflare's body of knowledge in networking, cybersecurity, and edge computing. Cloudflare offers resources and training to support your professional development. The position is remote and based in Sweden.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the IT industry (mid-level engineering level experience)
• Ability to manage a project, work to deadlines, and prioritize between competing demands
• Demonstrating empathy with customers and quickly identifying challenges and pain points they face
• Understanding of “how the internet works”
• Know the differences between TCP & UDP, and understand what kinds of applications may favour one over the other
• Explain the difference between authoritative and recursive DNS
• Why TLS (SSL) plays an important role on today's Internet, a solid understanding of HTTP and a willingness to dive deeper into the quirks of clients & servers alike
• Understanding of how customers make buying decisions, how to explain ROI
• A knowledge of the competitive landscape for one or more of: DDoS, CDN, Performance, DNS, Developer platform or Zero-Trust/SASE service providers
• You're OK with some in-region travel (15~30 days per quarter)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients from early-stage ideation through to planning for production
• Contribute energy, ideas and opinion on solving hard problems
• Develop adjacent technology expertise
• Master key skills relating to technical and industry advocacy on behalf of clients
• Offer good practice guidance and adopt a deploy-to-production mindset
• Work alongside peers with deep subject-matter expertise and industry knowledge
• Contribute to a body-of-knowledge across key domains of networking, cybersecurity and edge computing, as well as industry analyses and perspectives
• Focus on large clients to develop deep understanding and partnership
• Support clients in both local and central government, as well as select private sector clients

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with edge compute, web development or a scripting language (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Bash) and a desire to expand those skills
• Exposure to emerging technical landscape trends such as machine learning, GenAI, DevOps, security operations etc
• Previous experience in supporting the public sector
