Summary

Join Databricks as a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect (SSA) and guide customers in building big data solutions on the Databricks platform. This customer-facing role requires hands-on experience with Apache Spark™ and expertise in other data technologies. You will help customers design and implement essential workloads, aligning their technical roadmap with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. As a go-to expert, you'll strengthen your technical skills through mentorship and training, establishing yourself in a specialty area. The role involves providing technical leadership for big data projects, architecting production-level workloads, and partnering with Solution Architects on complex technical sales aspects. You will also contribute to community adoption and the Databricks Community. This remote-friendly role requires significant experience in pre-sales, enterprise architecture, and Spark-based analytics.

Requirements

  • Have experience in a pre-sales customer-facing technical role
  • Have expertise as an enterprise architect
  • Have deep technical knowledge of spark-based analytics solutions
  • Have experience with the design and implementation of big data technologies such as Spark/Delta, Hadoop, NoSQL, MPP, OLTP, and OLAP
  • Maintain and extend production data systems to evolve with complex needs
  • Have production programming experience in Python, R, Scala or Java
  • Have experience scaling big data workloads that are performant and cost-effective
  • Have experience with Development Tools for CI/CD, Unit and Integration testing, Automation and Orchestration, REST API, BI tools and SQL Interfaces
  • Have experience designing data solutions on cloud infrastructure and services, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP using best practices in cloud security and networking
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience communicating technical concepts to customers at C-level
  • Have a degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to guide strategic customers to successful implementations of big data projects, ranging from architectural design to data engineering to tuning and optimisation
  • Architect production-level workloads, including end-to-end pipeline load performance testing and optimisation
  • Provide technical expertise in an area such as data management, cloud platforms, data warehousing, and analytics architecture
  • Partner with Solution Architects on the most complex aspects of the technical sale including custom proof of concept content, estimating workload sizing, and custom architectures
  • Improve community adoption (through tutorials, training, hackathons, conference presentations)
  • Contribute to the Databricks Community
