Summary
Join the Cloud Infrastructure Storage team at ServiceNow as a Senior Storage Engineer and play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our global storage environment. You will oversee daily operations, deploy and manage storage systems, lead strategic projects, serve as an escalation point for technical issues, and proactively identify improvements. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, advanced understanding of storage protocols, and experience with enterprise-class storage hardware. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation. The role requires passing a background check and is open only to US citizens, naturalized citizens, or permanent residents. Compensation includes a base pay of $112,800 - $191,800, plus equity, variable compensation, and benefits.
Requirements
- Experience using or thinking critically about integrating AI into work processes, decision making, or problem solving. This may include using AI powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI driven insights, or exploring AIs impact on the function or industry
- 5 years of related experience with Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with Advanced degree; or equivalent work experience in enterprise storage engineering and operations within complex environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex storage issues
- Advanced understanding of storage protocols such as NFS, iSCSI, and NVMe
- Experience with enterprise class storage hardware including Dell, Pure, HP, or NetApp
- Solid understanding of supporting technologies, including Networking fundamentals and architecture
- Server platforms and virtualization such as VMware ESXi
- Linux systems administration, e.g. CentOS, Ubuntu, or Red Hat
- Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non technical teams
- Strong documentation skills and a commitment to process improvement
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt processes as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- A proactive, team oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and results
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operational health of the global storage environment, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues
- Deploy and manage a worldwide fleet of storage systems to meet performance and capacity needs
- Lead or contribute to strategic projects such as storage migrations, capacity planning, and system upgrades
- Serve as an escalation point for advanced technical issues, collaborating with internal teams and vendor support to achieve timely resolutions
- Proactively identify and implement improvements in processes, procedures, and technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability
- Stay current with emerging storage technologies and trends, applying new insights to the environment
- Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced engineers, fostering technical growth across the team
- Actively contribute to documentation, ensuring processes and technical standards are clearly defined and consistently updated
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing large scale storage environments, e.g. multi datacenter or petabyte scale
- Hands on experience with object storage or cloud native storage technologies
- Familiarity with automation and scripting tools, e.g. Python or PowerShell
