Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience administering enterprise Windows environments, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or team lead capacity
- Deep knowledge of Active Directory, GPOs, clustering, SAN integration, and Windows Server core services
- Hands-on experience managing physical and virtual servers (Hyper-V), and integration with storage and backup platforms
- Experience supporting enterprise patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with NIST/VA security standards
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell for automation and administrative tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and stakeholder briefings
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of system administrators supporting Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) across development, staging, and production
- Manage system installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance for enterprise Windows platforms and applications
- Administer core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, SSL/TLS certificates, and baseline security policies
- Configure and maintain Hyper-V virtualization, clustering, NIC teaming, and SAN-attached storage to ensure performance, redundancy, and uptime
- Integrate systems with Commvault and Azure GovCloud for backup and recovery operations
- Monitor system health, analyze logs, and resolve errors or performance issues proactively
- Enforce VA and DoD STIG compliance, including patching, vulnerability remediation, and secure remote access (e.g., RDP, sFTP)
- Maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, and system configuration records
- Participate in on-call rotations, provide after-hours support when needed, and lead incident escalations
- Mentor junior administrators and provide team-level guidance on best practices, troubleshooting approaches, and system optimization
- Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal IT systems, especially within the VA or other healthcare environments
- Familiarity with SolarWinds, SCOM, or other system monitoring tools
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
- ITIL, Microsoft, or CompTIA certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, Security+, or equivalent)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
