Requirements

  • Strong backend development skills with Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript, and other server-side languages
  • Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scalable applications
  • Expertise in relational databases, including query optimization and resolving concurrency challenges
  • Deep knowledge of OOP, design patterns, system design, and architecture
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including leadership in organizations with 30+ engineers
  • Excellent technical communication, documentation and mentoring skills
  • Proven ability to align engineering initiatives with business objectives through cross-functional collaboration
  • You are based in GMT+3 max

Responsibilities

  • Lead with Technical Excellence
  • Act as a principal technical advisor to the Director of Engineering, guiding strategic technical initiatives
  • Lead the design and architecture for complex, cross-product systems and features
  • Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and guidance across multiple engineering teams
  • Drive technical decision-making, architecture reviews, and risk mitigation across projects
  • Elevate Organizational Effectiveness
  • Implement and standardize best practices for engineering across teams
  • Optimize and refine engineering processes to boost team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Drive technical quality initiatives and establish metrics to measure success
  • Facilitate post-mortems and implement solutions for continuous improvement
  • Strategize and Execute for Impact
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to define and communicate the technical strategy
  • Represent engineering leadership in cross-functional planning and align technical goals with business objectives
  • Identify opportunities for innovation while balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical health
  • Build Teams and Foster Culture
  • Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, supporting their growth and success
  • Cultivate a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Promote knowledge sharing across teams and support the development of career growth frameworks
  • Provide expertise in hiring and team-building to scale the engineering organization
  • Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Represent engineering leadership in critical meetings and decision-making forums
  • Build strong partnerships with product, design, and other stakeholders to align technical and business goals
  • Clearly communicate technical opportunities and constraints to business stakeholders
  • Lead resolution of complex, multi-team technical challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Contributions to open-source or technical communities
  • Experience in staff or principal engineering roles in fast-growing organizations
  • Knowledge across multiple tech stacks and technical domains
