Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Technical Designer or in a comparable role within the gaming industry, ideally working on high-fidelity games
- Expert knowledge of game design principles and a proven track record of implementing these in high-fidelity games
- Advanced proficiency in commercial or proprietary game engines, with a strong command of visual scripting tools and editors
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication skills and the capacity to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- A deep understanding of animation systems and ability to collaborate with animation and engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design process, from conception through to implementation, ensuring that gameplay is innovative, engaging, and seamless
- Serve as a bridge between the design team and engineering departments, translating game design requirements into technical solutions
- Spearhead the development of prototypes for new gameplay ideas, collaborating with gameplay programmers and artists to test feasibility and refine concepts
- Guide and support the design team on technical issues, promoting best practices and encouraging a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Oversee the integration and optimization of game systems, working closely with the QA team to identify and troubleshoot technical issues
- Foster a collaborative environment by providing mentorship to junior technical designers and encouraging knowledge sharing within the team
- Ensure that game mechanics and systems adhere to project timelines and technical specifications, maintaining a high standard of quality and performance
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge working in Unreal Engine, Blueprint, and Unreal GAS (Gameplay Ability System)
- Experience working on Action-Adventure games for PC/Console
- Contributed to shipped AAA title as a Designer
