Join Hyperproof's dynamic Engineering team as a Senior UX Engineer (Contractor) based remotely in Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, or Brazil. This long-term contract role offers the chance to contribute to exciting projects, influence design decisions, drive innovation, and ensure user experiences align with business goals. You will be responsible for design system ownership and implementation, high-fidelity prototyping and experimentation, communication and collaboration, usability, accessibility and performance advocacy, iterative development, cross-functional collaboration, tooling and workflow automation, mentorship and knowledge sharing. Requirements

  • 7+ years experience building SPAs with React and TypeScript
  • Strong UI, CSS, responsive design, and accessibility skills
  • Proven experience with modern testing practices (Jest, Cypress)
  • Ability to integrate REST APIs into front-end applications
  • Professional English proficiency and strong mentorship capabilities
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Design System Ownership & Implementation
  • Lead the development and maintenance of robust, secure, and performant design system components
  • Ensure visual and functional consistency across components, providing ready-made UI building blocks for dev teams
  • Convert Figma design tokens into a production-grade library (React/Storybook)
  • High-Fidelity Prototyping & Experimentation
  • Build coded prototypes (HTML/CSS/JS) that accurately simulate final products for effective user testing
  • Facilitate stakeholder buy-in through realistic, interactive prototypes
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Clearly communicate UX outcomes to UX teams, cross-functional partners, and stakeholders
  • Simplify complex technical and UX concepts for better cross-team understanding
  • Translate design intent into engineering-ready specifications during critiques and sprint planning
  • Usability, Accessibility & Performance Advocacy
  • Identify usability issues, prioritize improvements, and implement enhancements
  • Integrate accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA roles, keyboard paths) into workflows
  • Set performance budgets and integrate automated checks (axe, Lighthouse CI) into CI/CD pipelines
  • Iterative Development
  • Support iterative release cycles, aligning tasks with product schedules
  • Cross-Functional & Cross-Stage Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Product Design and Product Management to manage dependencies
  • Foster effective collaboration across product groups and development stages
  • Tooling, Workflow Automation & UX Instrumentation
  • Automate design system tasks, documentation, and integration through tooling and scripts
  • Embed accurate event tracking for analytics, A/B tests, and KPI dashboards
  • Manage Storybook documentation, allowing exploration without engineering support
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
  • Mentor colleagues on best practices for design system implementation and usability
  • Actively participate in design reviews, modeling effective feedback methods
  • Coach designers on technical feasibility and educate engineers about UX heuristics, shortening the feedback loop from idea to validated code

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hosted SaaS environments (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Background in enterprise software or workflow-focused UIs
  • Interest in AI tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT
  • Strong skills in TDD, refactoring, and testable code architecture
