Summary

Join VetsEZ as a Senior VistA MUMPS Developer and contribute to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Data Management (HDM) project. This role focuses on managing various software products and health data integrations within the VistA electronic health record system. You will be responsible for writing, modifying, and maintaining MUMPS code, implementing new functionalities, and integrating VistA with other healthcare systems. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of IT experience, and proven MUMPS development experience within VistA. The ideal candidate will possess additional qualifications such as government clearance and SAFe/Scrum certification. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering or technical discipline
  • 8 plus years of experience in IT and/or Federal Government contracting
  • Proven experience as a MUMPS developer within VistA
  • Kernel Experience to include: TaskMan, MenuMan, Alerts, KIDS
  • Experience with FileMan and MailMan
  • RPC Broker experience, to include the client and server. (Client is written in Delphi and is known as the Broker Development Kit, the server is written in Mumps)
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • An ability to understand front-end users' requirements and a problem-solving attitude
  • Results-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality software on time

Responsibilities

  • Write, modify, and maintain clean, scalable MUMPS code for the VistA system
  • Implement new functionalities based on user requirements and propose system enhancements
  • Maintain system performance and address security vulnerabilities
  • Address defects, produce bug fixes, and remediate POA&M’s
  • Integrate VistA with other healthcare systems, ensuring seamless data exchange using HL7 and other protocols
  • Design, develop, and manage databases within the VistA environment
  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and communicate system functionalities to users
  • Participate in code reviews, quality assurance activities, and enhance the M-Unit framework with the VistA-Kernel module
  • Keep up to date with MUMPS programming and healthcare IT advancements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a government clearance
  • SAFe/Scrum certification is preferred
