Senior Website Visual Designer (UX/UI)

Summary

Join Kanopi Studios as a Contract Senior Website Visual Designer (UX/UI)! This fully remote position, open to US and Canada residents, offers a chance to contribute significantly to a growing department. You will generate visual design collateral, develop strategic UX deliverables, lead discovery workshops, and collaborate with various teams. The role requires strong design skills, UX research knowledge, and agency experience. Compensation is hourly, ranging from $55 to $70, commensurate with experience. This is a contract position offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with a distributed team.

Requirements

• Possess a strong portfolio showcasing understanding of user-centered, responsive UI/UX design for websites
• Have 5+ years of professional experience designing responsive and mobile website products
• Have 3+ years of experience working within an agency setting
• Be familiar with design and communications tools including Figma, FigJam, Adobe Creative Cloud, Slack, and Google suite of tools
• Have expertise in Google Analytics (GA4), heatmapping tools, and user testing platforms
• Be capable of communicating ideas to a wide range of audiences while incorporating constructive feedback
• Be comfortable working remotely within a distributed team
• Be comfortable working in both waterfall and agile environments
• Be able to manage multiple projects with evolving requirements

Responsibilities

• Generate end-to-end visual design collateral for clients, including strategic direction, pattern libraries, mood boards, wireframes, UI visuals, and high-fidelity prototypes
• Develop strategic UX deliverables, such as sitemaps, user journeys, and personas, informed by quantitative and qualitative discovery insights
• Lead discovery workshops and design tailored UX research methodologies to align with project goals
• Collaborate with Content and UX Strategists to craft visually appealing and effective experiences balancing user goals and business needs
• Assist the internal marketing team by providing design support to further ongoing marketing objectives
• Advocate for design by articulating and defending design rationale to internal stakeholders and clients
• Work closely with the Project Management team to define project deliverables and delivery schedules
• Contribute to website visual design direction and collaborate with the creative services team
• Provide mentorship to intermediate and junior team members through constructive feedback and recommendations on project deliverables
• Perform marketing activities for Kanopi, including conducting webinars, participating in promotional videos, and representing the brand in public-facing events

Preferred Qualifications

• Have familiarity with front-end web design practices and coding
• Have experience with mission-driven and nonprofit clients
• Have a passion for the web, open-source development, and working with a community of fun, humorous folks!
