Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

Join Air, a Creative Ops System for creative teams, as an experienced Backend Engineer on our Apps & Integrations team. You will contribute to our backend codebase and desktop sync engine, build features, review code, write tests, maintain infrastructure, and help define our long-term architectural vision. This role involves driving the architectural design of our public API, implementing efficient data storage, designing high-availability solutions, collaborating with stakeholders, identifying bottlenecks, and mentoring junior team members. We work primarily in TypeScript with a React web app, Electron desktop app, and Node backend on AWS. This is a remote role with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend experience working on large-scale distributed web applications
• Understands the nuances of API design with security and scalability in mind
• Capable of working on a stateful and event-driven client-side application
• Contextual insight around shifting QA and Security to the left
• Comfortable with event-driven and service-oriented architectures
• Experience driving complex architectural transformation from start to finish
• Deep understanding of cloud-based services from AWS, GCP, Azure, etc
• Experience leading projects while balancing both business and technical constraints

• Implement efficient data storage and retrieval strategies
• Design solutions with high availability and fault tolerance in mind
• Strive for quality and efficiency in all phases of the development lifecycle

• Identify bottlenecks and proposal solutions that can drive the company forward
• Mentor and help in the growth of junior members of the team
• Foster more and higher-level involvement across different parts of the product

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS product suite
• Familiarity with major open-source and hosted AI providers
