Summary

Join Horace Mann as a Customer Care representative in a fully remote position, supporting educators with their auto and property insurance inquiries. You will handle inquiries via phone, email, and live chat, providing exceptional customer service. Prior insurance experience is not required; Horace Mann offers training and support to obtain necessary licenses. This role is ideal for those passionate about helping educators and making a meaningful impact. The position requires strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and adherence to company regulations. The schedule requires flexibility to work any shift between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm CST, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: H.S. diploma or GED required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Successfully complete the Service Representative Trainee Program
  • Obtain and maintain Insurance Producers License and Non-Residence License within 12 months of hire and maintain after that
  • Basic math skills and billing interpretation skills
  • Effective communication, both written and verbally – ability to identify unmet customer needs and provide solutions
  • Demonstrate active listening, system navigation, research, problem-solving, critical thinking, organization and time management skills
  • Internet speed of at least 10 mb/s download 1mb/s upload – Verification required
  • Employee must have a private, organized location removed from daily household distractions
  • Work location is flexible if approved by the Company except that the position may not be performed remotely in New York, California, Colorado, Washington, New Jersey, Maryland, Alaska, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, or Rhode Island

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong knowledge of Horace Mann Property and Casualty insurance products, services and policies
  • Handle and problem solve customers' inquiries via phone, email, and chats
  • Responsible for ensuring a great customer experience in both written and verbal communications
  • Maintain quality and compliance within every interaction by adhering to all applicable company and state rules and regulations
  • Responsible for proactive up-sell and cross-sell of insurance solutions to existing customer base

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service/business/sales experience preferred
  • Insurance or Finance industry experience helpful
