Software Architect

Summary

Join 66degrees, a leading Google Cloud Premier Partner, as a senior contractor for a 7-week remote assignment (40 hours/week), with potential extension. This role focuses on designing and implementing robust, scalable, and efficient data and backend systems using Go and Google Cloud Bigtable. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization. Immediate availability is required. The position demands expertise in Go backend development and working within a highly automated agile environment using Scrum and Git. Strong communication skills are essential.

Requirements

• Work UK Hours (morning overlap with US time)
• Proven ability to Test, validate and review the solution
• Experience working in a highly automated agile environment where changes are pushed
• Familiar with the scrum process and Git
• Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, high-availability data and backend systems using Go and Google Cloud Bigtable
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on Go backend development best practices
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools to meet project requirements
• Document architectural decisions, and create technical documentation
• Optimize Go code for performance and resource utilization
• Contribute to code reviews and ensure code quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with database- ScyllaDB
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). GCP preferred
• Kafka experience
