Software Architect

Summary

Join 66degrees, a Google Cloud Premier Partner, as a senior contractor for an 11-week remote assignment focused on designing and implementing scalable data and backend systems using Go and Google Cloud Bigtable. This role requires strong experience in Go backend development, distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will possess technical leadership skills, a deep understanding of cloud platforms (GCP preferred), and experience with Kafka and ScyllaDB.

Requirements

• Ability to work UK Hours (morning overlap with US time), 40 hours a week for approx 11 weeks contract without disruption
• Proven ability to Test, validate and review the solution
• Experience working in a highly automated agile environment where changes are pushed
• Familiar with the scrum process and Git
• Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable, high-availability data and backend systems using Go and Google Cloud Bigtable
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on Go backend development best practices
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools to meet project requirements
• Document architectural decisions, and create technical documentation
• Optimize Go code for performance and resource utilization
• Contribute to code reviews and ensure code quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with database- ScyllaDB nice to have
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). GCP preferred
• Kafka experience
