Responsibilities

  • Assist in infrastructure automation: Support the team in automating infrastructure deployment and management processes using tools like Terraform or Kubernetes
  • Monitor system performance: Collaborate with senior engineers to monitor and analyze system performance, helping to identify and troubleshoot issues in real-time
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines: Participate in the development and optimization of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of code
  • Support cloud environment management: Assist in managing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including provisioning resources, managing security, and optimizing costs
  • Develop and maintain internal tools: Help in developing, maintaining, and documenting internal tools that improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Software Development Platform Engineer Summer Intern to join our dynamic engineering team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our core applications and services. As a Platform Engineer Intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers, contributing to critical projects that enhance the stability, scalability, and security of our platform.

In this role, you will be involved in automating infrastructure processes, optimizing our CI/CD pipelines, and supporting cloud environment management. You’ll gain practical knowledge in modern DevOps practices, cloud computing, and infrastructure as code, while developing and maintaining internal tools that improve our operational efficiency. This position is ideal for someone passionate about technology and eager to learn in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Our Summer Internship is full-time program (40 hours per week) running from June – August 2024 (specific dates vary by office location). Please note, at this time PitchBook does not provide relocation assistance for our internships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a junior in a higher education program (college or university): Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management Information Systems, or closely related field
  • To be considered for the intern position, applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. PitchBook will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H-1B status). The company may in its sole discretion extend your contract for a further fixed term period(s) to be agreed by you and the Company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
  • Basic knowledge or experience working with Linux/Unix-based systems
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC) and containerization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Enjoy working with other engineers, teams, and cross functional stakeholders
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Compensation

  • Annual hourly rate: $22/hour

Working Conditions:

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 5 days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
