Software Engineer

Summary

Join Airbnb's Trust Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer and contribute to the safety and security of our global platform. You will work on the Connected Accounts platform, a knowledge graph that identifies fraudulent users and helps maintain the trust and safety of Airbnb. This role involves hands-on backend engineering, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the development of innovative fraud detection solutions. You will be responsible for owning and driving critical initiatives, shaping the long-term technical vision, and working on product enhancements and core infrastructure upgrades. The position is US-remote eligible, with occasional office work or offsite attendance. Compensation includes a competitive salary, bonus, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits.

Requirements

• Possess 2+ years of backend engineering software development experience
• Hold a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrate strong programming (Scala / Python / Java/ C++ or equivalent) skills for hands-on IC work
• Have experience with designing and building large-scale production systems or features
• Show passion for delivering products end-to-end: from ideation through planning and scoping to implementation and experimental A/B testing
• Possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and be detail-oriented

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on backend engineering work spanning product enhancements, core infrastructure upgrades, and improving ML model serving
• Collaborate closely with other trust defense and platform teams to tackle the changing landscape of fraud attacks by developing innovative solutions to detect fraud via knowledge graphs
• Collaborate effectively as a teammate to enhance the engineering organization
• Work in areas outside your usual comfort zone and demonstrate motivation for personal growth
